Why Ottawa
Why Choose House Cleaning Jobs in Ottawa
🏛️
Canada's most stable employment market
Ottawa's economy is anchored by the federal government, making it one of the most recession-resistant cities in Canada. Government employees, diplomats, and public servants have stable incomes and high household spending — which translates into a reliable, loyal client base for cleaning contractors.
🌍
Bilingual market — French speakers welcome
Ottawa is officially bilingual and a significant portion of the client base is French-speaking. If you're bilingual or francophone, that's a genuine asset in this market. We welcome applications in both English and French and will match you with clients who match your language preference.
🚀
Ground floor opportunity — join as a founding contractor
InspireClean is just launching in Ottawa. The contractors who join now will have the most influence on how we build the Ottawa team — from neighbourhood coverage to scheduling preferences. Founding contractors in our other cities have consistently built some of our most reliable, full-time client rosters.
🚗
Own vehicle preferred
Ottawa has OC Transpo bus and O-Train service, but a vehicle is strongly preferred to carry your supplies and serve clients across neighbourhoods like Kanata, Barrhaven, and Orleans efficiently. Centretown and the Glebe are more transit-accessible for contractors without a car.

FAQ
Common Questions
Everything you need to know before applying for house cleaning jobs in Ottawa.
Still have questions? 📞 905-991-4312 ✉️ info@inspireclean.ca 🌿 Ontario Living Wage Network member
Do I need to speak French to work in Ottawa?+
No — English is sufficient. However, if you are bilingual or francophone, that's a real advantage in Ottawa's market. We'll match you with clients who match your language preference, whether that's English, French, or both.
Since you're just launching, will there be enough work?+
We're transparent about this: we're building the Ottawa client base now, so the first weeks will involve onboarding and initial bookings. We don't onboard more contractors than we can keep busy — if you're accepted, you'll have work. Our founding contractors in other cities were fully booked within the first month.
Do I need to have my own cleaning supplies?+
As an independent contractor, you are responsible for providing your own supplies and equipment. The good news is that as a self-employed individual, your supplies, cleaning products, and equipment are all tax-deductible business expenses.
Do I need a car to work in Ottawa?+
A vehicle is strongly preferred — especially if you want to serve clients across Ottawa's spread-out neighbourhoods like Kanata, Barrhaven, and Orleans. For contractors focused on Centretown, the Glebe, or Westboro, OC Transpo is more viable but a vehicle is still an advantage.
How do I get paid, and how often?+
Contractors are paid biweekly. Tips from clients come directly to you — we never touch them. Your earnings are tracked through our platform so you always know where you stand.
Do I need a police background check?+
Yes — a background check less than one year old is required. If you don't have one yet, that's fine. You can apply now and get one before your first job. We can point you to the fastest local options in Ottawa.
Am I an employee or an independent contractor?+
You work as an independent contractor — you're your own boss. You control your schedule, accept or decline jobs, and file your own taxes. We provide the client pipeline, platform, and support.
