Everything you need to know before applying for house cleaning jobs in Toronto.
Do I need a car to work in Toronto?+
Not necessarily — Toronto is our most transit-accessible market. Many contractors in denser neighbourhoods like downtown, Leslieville, the Annex, and Roncesvalles travel entirely by TTC. However, a vehicle is preferred if you want to serve clients across multiple areas of the city or need to carry larger supplies. Indicate your transportation method in the application and we'll match you accordingly.
Do I need to have my own cleaning supplies?+
As an independent contractor, you are responsible for providing your own supplies and equipment. The good news is that as a self-employed individual, your supplies, cleaning products, and equipment are all tax-deductible business expenses.
What is eco-friendly cleaning and do I need special training?+
Eco-friendly cleaning means using non-toxic, environmentally safe products instead of conventional chemical cleaners. We'll provide guidance on approved green products before your first eco-friendly booking. No formal certification is required — a willingness to learn and commitment to using the right products is all we need.
How do I get paid, and how often?+
Contractors are paid biweekly. Tips from clients come directly to you — we never touch them. Your earnings are tracked through our platform so you always know where you stand.
Do I need a police background check?+
Yes — a background check less than one year old is required. If you don't have one yet, that's fine. You can apply now and get one before your first job. We can point you to the fastest local options in Toronto.
Which Toronto neighbourhoods can I work in?+
All of them. We serve clients across the entire city — from downtown and the waterfront to Scarborough, Etobicoke, North York, and East York. You select your preferred neighbourhoods in your application and we match you with clients close to where you live or transit lines you use.
How much experience do I need?+
Some professional cleaning experience is preferred, but we've onboarded great contractors with less than a year of experience. What matters most is reliability, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.
Am I an employee or an independent contractor?+
You work as an independent contractor — you're your own boss. You control your schedule, accept or decline jobs, and file your own taxes. We provide the client pipeline, platform, and support.
